Hiring an editor

Welcome to the Society of Editors (NSW) Editorial Services Directory online

The directory provides details of members of the society available for freelance or contract work. It is updated quarterly in January, April, July, and October each year.

To help you find editors offering particular services or with particular experience, check the list of members by subject speciality. You can also simply browse the list of members through the A–Z directory.

If you need advice on hiring or working with editors, check out Hiring an editor and The range of editorial services.

If you need an editor you can also use the ‘jobs email lists’ operated by the society to advertise your job opportunity or contract position to members. This costs you nothing. Simply send an email containing the details of the task or position to the jobs@editorsnsw.com.

Please note: The Editorial Services Directory is published by the Society of Editors (NSW) Inc. as a service to its members. Listings are provided by the members themselves; the society does not validate the details provided, nor can it endorse the work of individual members.

Professional standards: The Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd), formerly CASE, published Australian Standards for Editing Practice in 2001, which sets out the knowledge and skills expected of experienced editors. This publication is available on the IPEd website:
www.IPEd-editors.org

Editors accredited against the standards by IPEd are indicated by the initials ‘AE’ (Accredited Editor) or ‘DE’ (Distinguished Editor) after the editor's name.
