Experience: I spent the first few decades of my career working in the advertising industry, not writing ads, but doing the more prosaic, behind-the-scenes tasks of writing and editing company proposals, presentations and competitive tenders, including publications, staff training programs and a bi-monthly newsletter Media Update.

In 1997 I ‘went freelance’, initially working on reports, manuals, technical and marketing materials for media and research organisations. The subject matter for the projects I undertake now is much broader. I have recently edited Kimberley Cultural Trail, a book on Indigenous culture funded by Tourism Australia; OH&S manuals for the NSW Independent Education Union, reports for Australian Logistics Council and NSW Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) and website content for SBS.

I have been the editor of Blue Pencil, the newsletter of the Society of Editors (NSW) Inc., since August 2008.
