Experience: Fourteen years in the NSW public sector, the last nine years as a senior policy officer. A freelance editor and writer since 2001, offering freelance editing, writing, layout and indexing services to government agencies. Have written Cabinet Minutes, one White Paper, drafted legislation and provided advice to all levels, up to the Premier. As a freelancer, have been contracted by government agencies to edit annual reports, submissions to parliamentary inquiries, Green Papers, website text and have drafted complex correspondence.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours (Sydney University) and Diploma in Book Editing and Publishing (Macleay College); Accredited Editor, IPEd.

Computer capability: Highly computer literate. Main programs used are Microsoft Word for editing and layout work, and Sky Index for indexing.

Services offered: On-screen and hard-copy structural and copyediting, rewriting into specific formats, plain English rewriting, proofreading, indexing, layout work in Word.

Type of material: Government documents – policy statements, reports, including annual reports and technical reports, handbooks and manuals, conference proceedings, complex correspondence, webpage text, etc.

Subject specialities: Use of contemporary language appropriate to our culturally diverse society; can also employ appropriate style for official documents to the highest level. Particular expertise in issues surrounding cultural diversity and environmental and ecological issues.
