Nutcote – May Gibbs house excursion
Nutcote
Enjoy the delightful and fascinating Nutcote, home of renowned artist and author May Gibbs. The visit features a harbour ferry trip, guided tour of the house and gardens and a lunch of tea, coffee, sandwiches and cake.

Meet at 10 a.m., Circular Quay, Wharf 4 (for Neutral Bay Hayes Street ferry)


LigareField trip to Ligare printers
Get the inside scoop on the latest in book printing! A chartered bus will take you to the Ligare premises for a guided tour of the largest specialist book printing factory in New South Wales. View a wide range of printing equipment and see the book production process from start to finish.

Twilight cruise
Twilight Harbour Cruise
Take advantage of a special rate for a twilight cruise on board our own chartered luxury yacht, with open-style decks for a full view of the harbour. The two-hour cruise includes a drink on arrival and buffet dinner. Step out of the conference and onto the wharf, where your captain awaits.

ghost walkSydney’s Stories: Ghost & Convict History Walk
Your personalised tour guide leads the way through The Rocks area of Sydney: the dark alleyways, the original convict buildings, tales of heroes and villains, ghosts and scandals. Even Sydneysiders will be entertained and informed. The evening ends with a warming hot drink and dessert at the historic Italian Village waterfront restaurant.

The Spit Bridge to Manly WalkSpit walk
“The best walk in Sydney” – Free! Savour the natural beauty of Sydney with this group bush-walk on the northern side of Sydney Harbour. Difficulty is moderate and bushwalking shoes are essential. The distance is just under 10 km and the duration about 5 1/2 hours, including stop for picnic lunch (BYO food and drink). Return to the city by the Manly ferry!
Sunday, 11 September
Cost: FREE
Meet at 10 a.m., Wynyard bus terminal (for bus 169 departing 10.11 a.m.). The walk starts at the north end of the Spit Bridge (east side) at 10.30 a.m.


Balmain pubLiterary pub crawl in Balmain
Relax at the end of the week with a fun and informative guided walk, presented by the Balmain Association. Stroll through the picturesque streets of Balmain, an old harbourside suburb of Sydney. Learn about the literary culture of the area, stopping for a break at different historic hotels along the way.

Looking for something to read while you're in town? Sydney is full of fabulous bookshops; here are just a few:

City centre:

Dymocks on George St 424 George Street, Sydney
Dymocks' flagship store sprawls over several floors in the Dymocks Building.

Abbey's Books 131 York Street, Sydney
Abbey's Bookshops comprises: Abbey's Bookshop, Language Book Centre and Galaxy Bookshop. Independent booksellers in Sydney since 1968, they are known for their great range of books, including specialty titles.

Galaxy Bookshop Level 1, 131 York Street, Sydney (above Abbey's)
A must-visit for all for all science fiction/fantasy readers. Galaxy carries an extensive range of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Horror, genre-related reference works and art, Game Worlds books and pop culture.

Kinokuniya Level 2, The Galeries 500 George Street, Sydney

Located upstairs in The Galeries Victoria, it's easy to get lost in this bookshop. They carry a huge range and lots of specialty titles.

Beyond the city centre:

Berkelouw Books 19 Oxford Street, Paddington
The Berkelouw family has been trading since 1812 and their extensive collection comprises new, secondhand and antiquarian titles. Paddington is just one of their store locations.

Gleebooks Antiquarian & Secondhand Bookshop 191 Glebe Point Road Glebe
This is the shop to head to for antiquarian and secondhand books. Gleebooks stocks everything from arts and literature to history, politics and science, as well as specialist and rare book collections.

Pages & Pages Booksellers 878 Military Rd Mosman Junction, Mosman
If you're looking to travel further afield, Pages and Pages is a well-known shop near the city. They have a great range of general titles as well as a specialised children's bookshop.


Shearer's Bookshop 99 Norton Street, Leichhardt

Also outside the city centre, in the bustling cafe district of Leichhardt, is Shearer's Bookshop - renowned for their great service and a range of titles that covers all areas of interest, in particular biographies, Australian fiction, sport, travel and children's books.
