IN SYDNEY—WHERE TO STAY AND GETTING AROUND
Dockside is a conference-only venue in the heart of Sydney. A wide range of hotels and other establishments are nearby. Delegates can choose their own level of accommodation and book for as many nights as they require. Accommodation rates and availability will fluctuate. Take advantage of discounts for longer stays of two nights or more, and for advance payment, or check out online last-minute deals. For two or more delegates apartment-style accommodation can be an economical option and there are many alternatives in Sydney’s CBD.

Shuttle bus services operate from the airport to major CBD hotels and apartments, a distance of about 8km; the fare is approximately $14 one way. An airport train also links the domestic and international airports to the city circle train stations and costs about $15 for a one-way trip (about 12 minutes). A taxi from the airport to the CBD and conference venue will cost about $45 (about 30 minutes, depending on traffic).
The NSW Transport Info site has timetables, trip planners and ticket information for buses, trains, ferries and light rail.

DARLING HARBOUR AREA
Darling Harbour is a lively area with many exhibition halls, restaurants, cafes and shops overlooking the sparkling harbour waters. The Dockside Conference Centre is on the city side of Darling Harbour and near the Darling Park monorail station at Cockle Bay. Close by is the Star Room (above the IMAX theatre), the venue for one of our workshops and for the Gala Dinner.
A variety of hotels in the Darling Harbour area are within walking distance of the conference venue and may also be reached by monorail.

THE ROCKS/ WYNYARD STATION/ CIRCULAR QUAY/KING STREET AREA
The Rocks is a historic area that features some of the oldest buildings in Australia and is the starting point of the Sydney’s Stories: Ghost and Convict History Walk.
Circular Quay is a prime spot for a view of the Opera House and has a train station and ferry terminal—where you can catch the public ferry to Neutral Bay as part of the Nutcote visit.
Wynyard station is convenient for the airport train line and is close to many bus stops, including the bus for The Spit Bridge.
King Street Wharf has a range of bars and restaurants and is the place to embark on the private twilight harbour cruise or catch the public ferry to Balmain where the Literary Pub Crawl starts.

CENTRAL STATION/ LIVERPOOL STREET/ QVB AREA
Sydney’s suburban trains lines all stop at Central Station and country trains arrive in the grand old section of the station. Central also features a Light Rail stop and many bus stops.
Liverpool Street has several Spanish restaurants and is close to the main cinema complexes, Chinatown and Paddy’s markets.
The Queen Victoria Building (QVB) is a big, beautiful mid-city landmark. A historic building with plenty of shops and cafes, the QVB is also connected to Town Hall Station, another transport hub, and close to Monorail stops and many bus stops.
